It get’s very hot in my home (garage) in the summer, so I like to leave the door open in the evening to allow it to cool down from sweltering to merely baking.

My cat is a scaredy cat, but she will sneak outside if I’m not watching, and if she gets brave she will wander away.

One evening as I prepared for bed I realized I hadn’t seen her for a while, so I looked under my bed (couch) and when I didn’t see her I went running outside to start my search.

Calling a cat at night is a very strange thing for me to do. In the quiet dark my masculine voice sounds especially silly calling “here kitty kitty kitty, here Francis…” even with my best effort to sound cool in a sing song way …. “here kitty kitty kitty, here Francis…” .

It was no use, I could not be cool. I gave up the cool and put all my love into my cat calls, “here kitty kitty kitty, here Francis…” in a now sickeningly sweet voice, “here kitty kitty kitty, here Francis…” bleaaughh.

A pang of anxiety arose when an image appeared in my mind, finding her fat body crushed by a car tire or worse, alive and smashed and crying. Having had 3 cats die before my eyes added to the imagery. My anxiety turned to frantic as I was running from yard to yard in a non-systematic way, covering the same ground 3 or 4 times.

Then, for whatever reason the thought “She BETTER not be in the house” appeared in my head, so I ran inside and grabbed a flashlight, looked under my bed (couch) and there she was…

“Hello stupid” she said with a blink.

I was relieved and angry and relieved again “Hi sweetie I said, as I reached under to pet her.

She chomped down on my hand in a most unaffectionate way.

I think I heard her say “Just because you were in lala land, don’t expect me to share your sentiment at this time of night. Besides, I’ve been here all along …” .

Man I love that stupid cat.

Welcome to my new Weblog.

I am not too happy to have to create a whole new blog, as I am leaving behind much excellent content at my old (useless) Goggle Blog that I cannot access right here.
I hope you visit to find lots of provocative observations and practical suggestions for getting the most out of the short Life you have.

I do plan to update this frequently, so why not bookmark this blog, put on your helmet and seatbelt, and enjoy!

Gratefully,
